The Enhanced fraud protection feature within Google Play Protect automatically blocks the installation of potentially-risky sideloaded apps to better safeguard Android users in Malaysia. New financial services verification (FSV) ensure only legitimate, licensed financial advertisers can reach users in Malaysia through Google Ads ecosystem.

We create safe default environments by automatically applying our SafeSearch filter for users under 18, while YouTube Kids and supervised experiences on YouTube provide age-appropriate viewing environments based on a child's maturity level. Furthermore, we empower parents with Family Link to actively manage digital routines—from customising app time limits to setting YouTube Shorts scrolling limits to zero minutes—ensuring a secure, age-appropriate online experience.

Championing digital literacy
Supported with US$5 million funding from Google.org, the ASEAN Foundation is scaling Scam Ready ASEAN in Malaysia. In collaboration with social change impact agency, Ratio:Cause, the programme will reach over 200,000 Malaysians over the next two years with online scam prevention resources to navigate the digital world safely.

Melioidosis, a disease caused by the bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei, claims nearly 90,000 lives each year. Researchers Dr. Su Datt Lam and Dr. Sylvia Chieng at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) are using AlphaFold to understand the bacterium's proteins, accelerating the team's potential to develop targeted, life-saving treatments.

As Malaysia's population ages, Jia Ying, Loo Ying, and Yong Kong from the AI Ready ASEAN Challenge developed a smart muscle recovery system. Powered by Google AI, it adjusts therapy in real time, enabling seniors to safely continue high-quality rehabilitation at home.
