Erin Hinson is a Louisville, Kentucky, native and mother of two. One of her sons lives with disabilities, so she strives to show them anyone can help their community.
Erin has Type 1 diabetes and asthma, increasing her risk of serious illness if infected with COVID-19. Her doctor stressed the importance of staying home.
Erin had her family for support, but what about people who thought they had no one? She set out to show them that Louisville takes care of its own.
Erin wanted to connect volunteers with high-risk people in need. So, aided by three local college students, she made the website Louisville COVID-19 Match.
After volunteers and recipients sign up on the site, Erin’s team uses Google Sheets to enter information and pair people up based on ZIP codes.
“Not everyone has family near to lean on, and this program helped heal that missing piece.” – Taylor Torsky
Thanks, Erin, for inspiring others to support every member of their community.
