How a comedian shares the stage during social distancing
With help from Google
Marissa Goldman is a Brooklyn-based comedian and artist pushing comedy into new, creative places.
“Comedy has always played the antidote to depression and anxiety … I can help people laugh and come together.” – Marissa Goldman
After a stay-at-home order shut down NYC’s stand-up scene overnight, Marissa saw a chance to turn tragedy into digital comedy.
Marissa made a Google Doc and invited fellow comedians to join her in creating an experimental live comedy show.
While the audience watches through a YouTube live stream, comedians drop rare memes into the doc and riff with people participating via live chat.
“Especially in times of tragedy it’s important to have community and just feel like there are people there for you.” – Marissa Goldman
